Unionville High School Course Offerings 2018-2019 The following courses will be offered at Unionville High School for the 2018-2019 school year. When planning your course selections, you should take the following things into consideration: • your strengths • your interests • your teachers' recommendations • course prerequisites • diploma requirements • your post-secondary destination (workplace, apprenticeship, college, university) Course availability will be based on the number of students who request a particular course. Consequently, it is very important that students and parents make careful and wise choices during the course selection process to ensure course availability. Once classes begin in September, course transfers or changes are considered only in extraordinary circumstances and where space permits. All students are expected to carry a full course load. The Ontario government accepted the idea, but needed to wait for a new high school to be built.
When Unionville High School was under construction, the government decided it was a prime opportunity to initiate the program. The school was finished and opened to the public in 1985, with the schools west wing constructed in the Spring of 2002. Unionville High School also became the first school outside the to participate in the Apple Digital Campus Curriculum (ADCC) in 2002. [ ] In 2005, Sheila Hetherington and Jerry Berridge, teachers in the history and tech departments, were recipients of the Governor General's Awards for Excellence in Teaching Canadian History. In 2006, the same two teachers later won the Prime Minister's Awards for Teaching Excellence.
